McCoys Action Karate has classes and curriculum that are designed specifically for adults in four specific programs. We teach Tang Soo Do, (traditional Black Belt Karate), MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), MMA Conditioning (a unique cardio class based on MMA conditioning drills) and Tai Chi, (suitable for adults of all ages and we even teach it to groups and corporations). Our Programs are geared to take you from your current level of fitness and flexibility to a level that will empower you to accomplish your goals. First, you will quickly notice an improvement in your level of energy and mental focus. Difficult or tiresome tasks will become a breeze. The second result will be superior physical fitness, self-confidence, stress-relief, weight loss, and overall positive attitude about life. And most importantly, you'll enjoy working out with motivated people that are positive and goal-oriented. Our safe, and easy-to-follow style of instruction provides the best possible environment for you to become more physically fit; to develop both self-defense awareness and self-defense skill; to maintain a healthy, positive outlook... and to have a great time with other people who also enjoy these pursuits!

Our Martial Arts programs are based on four components

Physical Fitness
As I mentioned above, one of the benefits of our training is total fitness. This means, our classes are designed to help you lose weight, build muscle, and transform your entire body without the boredom typically associated with "working out".

FACT: The workout that you enjoy doing most will be the one you stick with the longest. And when you stick to something, naturally, you get results. But it doesn't stop there...

Additionally, each class is designed to challenge your level of cardiovascular fitness and raise your level of conditioning and flexibility to the point where other people in your age bracket will wonder how you do it! Remember all the energy you had as a youngster? Well, with this class... you'll have it back! You'll feel less tired throughout your day; you'll sleep better; and even "reset" your biological clock, a component of regularly spaced training sessions.

Safety
With a career of teaching and training in traditional martial arts that spans three decades (has it been that long already!?) McCoy's Action Karate knows that the traditional methods, adapted to modern lifestyles, are still the BEST! Many eclectic programs (the modern approach) are not ideal for adults... or physical conditioning. Meaning: In a sink or swim mentality, There is too much unnecessary contact (especially in the early stages of training) without an understanding of the mechanics and techniques the students are asked to perform, often on others! There is simply too much potential for injury and not enough emphasis on fitness, health, or respect for others. We stress mutual respect for one another, NO ONE is asked to run before they can walk. Truth be told, we have NEVER seen a serious injury in a program built upon respect. it's hard to say that of most stick and ball sports, or any activity where people are not ready (by building a solid foundation) for what they are attempting to do.

Fun, Fun, Fun
There are lots of different ways to get in shape and learn self-defense such as gyms and a wide variety of martial arts schools. However, again, the program you will stay with and benefit from the most will be the one you enjoy and see results from. The moves you learn will be "fundamentals" and we purposely mix and match the repetitive elements that are necessary to create instinctive responses, to keep classes exciting and fun! And unlike most alternatives, there is NEVER any negativity, sarcasm, or indifference in our classes. You will feel focused and stress-free...on a quest to be your very best, while helping others (your training partners) achieve their goals as well. To succeed in Martial Arts - you need not be an Olympic athlete, nor must you have a "natural talent"' for physical activities- just a desire to be your best, and the courage to try something new and exciting!

Lifestyle
This is where you begin to appreciate the attitude skills of the martial arts if you will: self-control, self confidence, positive thinking, communication skills, perseverance, mental toughness, courage and the ability to set and reach powerful personal goals.
